Public health centres in Bhubaneswar that have maintained high level of hygiene and infection control are going to get appreciation in form of Kayakalp awards. Overall 12 district headquarters hospitals, seven, 28, 30 and 14 have qualified for the Kayakalp Awards of the Health Department for the year 2017-18.
Kayakalp Award was launched on May 15, 2015 to improve the standards of services at public health facilities and to promote and encourage Swachhta. The district headquarters hospitals getting first prize will get a sum of Rs50 lakh while the second prize winner will get Rs20 lakh. Similarly, the sub-divisional hospitals/community health centres that tops in the category will get a sum of Rs15 lakh, while the second prize winner will get Rs10 lakh. The primary health centres and Urban Public Health Centres that tops the category will get Rs2 lakh.
