The evening also saw the entire Sri Lanka Housekeepers’ Association (SLHA) committee being introduced for the first time following their formal formation last November. Addressing the delegates, Mangala Hemananda, Assistant Director, Housekeeping, The Kingsbury Hotel, Colombo and the President of SLHA, said, “When we started the association, we had only 20 members but now we have over 150 members from hotels across the country. Sri Lankan housekeepers are benefitting through this association and we are able to maintain International Standards. This conference is a great opportunity to show our experience to the world as well as gain international exposure.”
The Executive Committee members of SLHA were felicitated by Tatjana Ahmed, Housekeeping Manager, Grand Hyatt Dubai and Chairperson of the UAE Housekeepers Group and Sonia Mital, General Manager- Housekeeping, INOX Leisure Ltd, India, and Founder and Head – CSR, Events, Communication of I-Professional Housekeepers’ Association, India.
Four of these Committee Members were recognized by the SLHA for their tireless contribution over than 30 years and supporting the newly formed association in Sri Lanka as members in the Advisory committee. They were Ruvini Ranasooriya, Consultant- Housekeeping, Cinnamon Hotels and Resorts (Sri Lanka Resorts); Irandi Wijegunawardane, Assistant Vice-President (Accommodation Sector) Aitken Spence Hotel Management; Vindya Ratnavibhushana, Manager-Special Projects, Cinnamon Grand Hotel and Kamalika Panabokke, Executive Housekeeper, Mahaweli Reach Hotel.
