New public toilet policy for Pimpri

The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has framed a new public toilet policy, which envisages construction of toilets and bath houses in market areas, footpaths, near nullahs (drains) and other places where people throng in great numbers. Special toilet designs have been made by private builders and contractors and the toilets are likely to be commissioned this year.

About 29 spots have been selected and ‘pay-and-use’ toilets are going to be installed shortly. While the longevity of such toilets will be for a period of 15-years, a special cleanliness committee will frame the policy, terms and conditions for the toilet project. NGOs are also involved in this project.
