According to the Union Ministry for Human Resource Development (MHRD), seven of the cleanest schools in India are from Puducherry, followed by six from Tamil Nadu. They released a list of 52 institutions across the nation which have been selected for Swacch Vidyalaya Puraskar, which are followed by institutions from states like Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Kerala and more.
The schools are marked on several factors and are graded on a total of 100 marks. The factors include safe and clean drinking water, clean toilets, the presence of hand wash with soap in the toilets, the operations and maintenance of the toilets and the behavioral changes and capacity building among students.
