Is the popcorn machine being cleaned?

by Clean India Journal Editor

Nowadays, malls and multiplexes almost always coexist in the same building. These high-traffic, high-contact, high-stakes and high-tech facilities deserve a heightened level of attention to detail when it comes to health and hygiene, says Deepak Gupta, Director – Institution, Satol Chemicals Pvt Ltd.

Challenge: Multiplexes and malls experience a constant influx of visitors, leading to heavy foot traffic and increased dirt and debris in public areas.

Solution: Regular cleaning of lobbies, corridors, seating areas and common spaces using vacuuming, sweeping and mopping. Deep cleaning of carpets and upholstery periodically to remove embedded dirt and stains.

Challenge: Food outlets and restaurant kitchens deal with frequent spills and stains, which can lead to odour, attract pests, and create unhygienic conditions.

Solution: Regular cleaning and immediate attention to spills using appropriate alkaline or pH-neutral cleaning agents such as SATOL’s SD2, a neutral cleaning agent specially designed for institutional kitchens. Deep cleaning of floors, walls and countertops to eliminate tough stains and maintain hygiene.

Challenge: Restaurant kitchens experience grease and oil buildup on surfaces and equipment, posing fire hazards and hygiene issues. Removing burnt oil stains from popcorn machines is a challenge.

Solution: Regular cleaning of kitchen surfaces, hoods, filters and exhaust systems to prevent grease buildup. Deep cleaning of kitchen equipment and hard-to-reach areas to remove accumulated grease. Ideally, one-time deep cleaning of the entire kitchen is to be done with a foam cleaning agent, such as SATOL’s SAT FOAM CL along with a foam machine. Popcorn making machines can be cleaned with SATOL’s speciality range of chemicals (SATOL – HD) which can remove the hardest of the oil stains from any surface, especially steel.

Challenge: Food preparation surfaces need extra attention to prevent cross-contamination and foodborne illnesses.

Solution: Regular cleaning and sanitisation of cutting boards, knives, food preparation tables and sinks. Deep cleaning of food contact surfaces using appropriate disinfectants.

Challenge: High-touch surfaces like door handles, handrails, tables and payment terminals can harbour germs and viruses.

Solution: Regular sanitisation with the BKC-based SATOL S2, a hygienic hard surface cleaner. Deep cleaning during off-peak hours to ensure thorough disinfection.

Challenge: Multiplexes and mall restrooms demand frequent cleaning to maintain hygiene.

Solution: Regular cleaning and disinfection of restroom fixtures, floors and touchpoints. Deep cleaning of restrooms to eliminate odours, mold and bacteria.

Challenge: Air ducts and ventilation systems can accumulate dust, allergens and potential contaminants, affecting indoor air quality.

Solution: Regular cleaning and maintenance of HVAC systems, with periodic deep cleaning. For a better ambience, SATOL’s S5 (INN) or BOOM air fresheners can be used.
