Enhancing learning environments with attentive facility management

The education sector has experienced unprecedented growth over the past decade, with projections showing a remarkable compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 12.1% between 2023 and 2028. As schools strive to meet the evolving demands of students, the importance of providing excellent facilities and a conducive learning environment has become paramount. Recognizing this need, Tenon Group provides comprehensive services tailored to the specific requirements of educational institutions. Angad Rajain, Global CSO & IFM Head, Tenon Group delves deeper into how Tenon FM excels in maintaining school premises and enhancing the overall experience for students.

Addressing the diverse needs and preferences of a student community is no small feat. It requires meticulous planning and a personalised approach to ensure that the services provided cater to everyone. From overall campus maintenance to specific areas like washrooms, hostels, surrounding areas, classrooms, and canteens, Tenon FM rises to the challenge with meticulous attention to detail.

Overall maintenance

We begin by developing a comprehensive maintenance plan that covers all aspects of the campus, including buildings, landscaping, infrastructure and utilities. Regular inspections are conducted to identify maintenance needs and prioritise tasks based on urgency and their impact on the student experience. An effective reporting system is in place. Sensors or dedicated staff members are also in place to promptly resolve maintenance issues. Adequate resources – including dedicated maintenance teams and budgets – are allocated to address requirements effectively.

Washroom maintenance

The high standards of cleanliness required in the frequently used restrooms in schools require regular cleaning and disinfection in all washroom facilities, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, and floors. Besides a regular cleaning regime, a steady supply of essential items such as soap, toilet paper, and hand sanitisers are provided. Any reported issues, such as plumbing problems or broken fixtures, are swiftly addressed.

Hostel maintenance

Recognising the significance of hostel facilities, we have taken a proactive approach to maintenance. Routine inspections and preventive maintenance checks are conducted to ensure the hostel areas are well-maintained. Common areas, corridors, and laundry facilities are regularly cleaned. The proper functioning of electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems is also closely monitored.

Surrounding area maintenance

We understand the importance of a clean and aesthetically pleasing campus environment. To achieve this, we regularly remove litter, prune trees and shrubs, and maintain lawns and gardens. Adequate lighting and security measures are implemented to enhance safety in the surrounding areas.

Classroom maintenance

Classrooms are pivotal spaces for learning and require significant upkeep. Regular inspections are conducted to identify maintenance needs such as broken furniture, damaged equipment or faulty lighting. Cleanliness and organisation are prioritised, ensuring that classrooms remain conducive to effective teaching and learning.

Canteen maintenance

Food safety and hygiene are paramount in canteen areas. Tenon FM adheres to rigorous standards, maintaining regular cleaning and sanitation of food preparation and serving areas. The company also ensures the proper maintenance of kitchen equipment and appliances.

Creating an inclusive environment

Effective communication and continuous improvement are the two pillars of the successful implementation of any maintenance programme. We provide channels for student feedback, including suggestion boxes, feedback forms, and student representatives. Staff members undergo regular training on maintenance practices, customer service and diversity awareness, fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment for all students.

In the rapidly evolving education sector, Tenon Group has positioned itself as a reliable partner for educational institutions seeking to create exceptional learning environments. Our comprehensive approach to school maintenance, encompassing various areas such as overall campus maintenance, washrooms, hostels, surrounding areas, classrooms and canteens, showcases their commitment to meeting the diverse needs of students. By prioritising cleanliness, hygiene, and personalised service, the overall educational experience for students gets increased, fostering a positive and conducive learning environment.
