India’s IT state does not have separate toilets/latrines for girls and boys in 54 schools in open violation of educational rules. The issue was raised after the tabling of the Comptroller and Auditor General Report in the Karnataka State Assembly.
The report said nearly 43% of the 542 schools in Karnataka does not have basic sanitation infrastructure like toilets, latrines and some of them still use raw bore well waters or untreated tanker water which is a major health hazard
The report also mentioned that despite the formation of Karnataka Residential Educational Institutions Society in 1999, it failed to equip residential schools and colleges with basic sanitation facilities.
