The Himachal Pradesh government has chalked out a plan to actively engage the state’s folk media to strengthen its ‘total sanitation campaign’ to create sanitation facilities up to the household level in rural areas. In the next four months, 28 select folk groups and 308 performing artists will travel to 3,243 panchayats to sensitise the villagers towards sanitation. The campaign will have element of humour, entertainment and also a powerful message about sanitation and other recent development initiatives of the government in the environment, literacy and social sectors.
