In an initiative to keep trains clean, the Western Railway has introduced a special fluorescent green sticker which will be pasted near the motorman’s cabin indicating when cleaning was last completed. The sticker will show the train number together with the name of the railway car shed the train was taken to for its recent periodic cleaning. This will help better monitoring by the authorities and will also be of interest to rail passengers. The grubby appearance of the trains will soon be a thing of the past as the trains are now cleaned using jet spraying machines every 10 days as opposed to every 40 days, prior to the purchase of the jet sprayers last May. The Western Railway move comes after frequent complaints from commuters about dirty coaches, dusty fans, paan stains and pamphlets stuck inside the coaches.
