Berlin, claimed to be the birthplace of building cleaning, recently celebrated 25 years of hosting successful trade fairs for the cleaning industry in Germany. It was in 1877 that commercial cleaning of windows and building facades began in Germany and three years later the first trade fair was organised in Berlin. Having marked 100 Years of Building Cleaning in 1977, Berlin made a debut in international trade fair in 1984. CMS Berlin – Cleaning.Management.Services began in 2001 a biennial event with supporting associations Bundesinnungsverband des Gebäudereiniger-Handwerks, Bonn, Fachverband Reinigungssysteme im Verband Deutscher Maschinen-und Anlagenbau, and Industrieverb and Hygiene und Oberflächenschutz, Frankfurt/Main.
Marking the occasion, Dr Christian Göke, Chief Operating Officer of Messe Berlin GmbH, said, “This year Berlin can look back on 25 years of hosting successful trade fairs for the cleaning industry. The current CMS is a logical, ongoing development of RT Reinigungs-Technik, suitably modified to meet the demands of the present-day market.”
