Cleaning Everest

In a first of its kind initiative, the Indian and Nepalese army joined forces to clean up the Mount Everest. The joint Sagarmatha expedition team handed over 4,010kg of garbage and trash collected from and below South Col to the Mount Everest Pollution Control Committee in Namche of Solukhumbu district in Nepal. The solid waste consisted mostly of various goods, used and discarded by the mountaineers, including 2250kg of biohazardous waste and 1760kg of less toxic waste.
