Ecolab India, in association with Vidya Dairy recently organised a one-day conference on “The Importance of Food Safety & Hygiene in Dairy Industry” in Anand, Gujarat. The conference aimed at finding solutions to lead the dairy industry to adopt technologically advanced hygiene solutions and improve operational efficiencies in a cost-effective way.
Making inroads into the Dairy segments, Ron Pringle, Vice President and General Manager Ecolab India Region said, “Our aim was to create a platform for information flow and interaction in the dairy industry, share the challenges and issues related to food safety & hygiene and workable solutions. I am happy that this conference has generated an in-depth understanding and exposure on the dairy industry.”
Emphasising on the importance of high production efficiency and quality in the dairy processing industry, Pringle said, “We are looking at increasing our education sharing activities with the dairy sector here. We are exploring whether we can replicate our practices deployed by dairy players in New Zealand, Europe and North America.” The dairy segment is relatively new for Ecolab in India.
The global team of experts from Ecolab addressed challenges and introduced the audience to innovative cleaning technology and the best practices adopted by the company world over to help their Dairy customers achieve their business objectives. Also present on the occasion were Sangram Chaudhary – Executive Director, National Dairy Development Board; Rahul Kumar – MD, Amul Dairy; D.R. Shah – MD, Vidya Dairy and Sham Chaudhary-Ex GCMMF Quality Team.
The value of the Indian dairy industry is expected to touch र5 lakh crore, with milk output pegged at 190 million tonnes by 2015. With such ambitious targets and increasing pressure of demand and supply and with the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India coming into play, the need for high production efficiency, quality and quick turnaround time has become the key for dairy processing plants to succeed and achieve their production targets.
