One of the major costs in laundry is detergents and washing solutions. What has been your experience?
It is a myth that laundry detergent is a major cost in today’s modern laundry. It used to be earlier or even now in unorganised /manual laundry systems. The technological advancements, especially with the modern dosing system in place, chemicals consumption amounts to less than 10% of the total cost.
What are your criteria of selecting detergents for treating different linen?
Auto dosing system by and large eliminates the need of selecting the detergents required. When you are working with a big multinational company like Buzil Rossari, which has done extensive research before actually launching its range, for launderers us, choosing between a couple of options based on the machine and quality of linen used, becomes rather easy.
What is the difference you see in laundry chemicals today?
Chemicals have undergone a sea of change in the recent past from the basic bleach and detergents to oxy bleach, build, sour, detergent, fragrance, etc. The technological advancement has been tremendous. Earlier, cotton linen lasted for only 60-70 washes but now it lasts for more than 125 washes owing to the more clothfriendly washing chemicals. Over and above, the chemical consumption is much less and it is organic in nature.
Manual intervention in the process is almost over now. It is all automated. Consistency in chemical is the only concern, which we have found with our current supplier, Buzil Rossari.
What are the challenges with hospitality linen?
As linen suppliers, we have been working closely with more than 4,000 hotels across the world in six continents and have found generic difficulty of maintenance of whiteness and crispiness of the linen. This is mainly due to water changes and the inconsistent supply of chemicals even from the same company however renowned they may be.
Nonetheless, we do not face this problem now, as Buzil Rossari has incorporated a water softness program which is now operational at Sahara Star.
What is your unique business model of laundry?
We at Beepee Puretex use today’s technology to the maximum. All our products are RFID tagged which gives us the actual wash count of linen. The process of collection and delivery at the hotel becomes a 15-minute procedure rather than a threehour ordeal of manually counting the linen. The procedure of discarding linen too, post its shelf life, becomes easy based on parameters we have set.
