The ‘Pay & Use’ toilets at Mahabubnagar and Basar railway stations in Andhra Pradesh will have professional service providers for maintenance. The South Central railway has called for bid for this project.
Speaking to Clean India Journal, Clement Xavier, Supervisor at Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Hyderabad Division, said, “The tenders would be awarded for a period of five years to building service contractors for cleaning toilets, removing cobweb and washing the floors at regular intervals. The BSC should engage necessary cleaning agents/detergents, cleaning tools and deodorant/disinfectants and restrooms should be washed after every use leaving no room for unpleasant smell.”
In another recent tender, the railway had also called on cleaning contractors to arrange sufficient cleaning equipment such as water pusher, brooms, brush for cleaning toilet seats and washbasins, choke removers, foot-mats, foot operated dust bin, hand sprayer, deodorant (jelly or aromatic compound) and disinfectants.
