MCD boosts waste management and drainage cleaning

by Clean India Journal Editor
0 comment

Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) adds 17 backhoe loaders and two super sucker machines to its fleet, which may bolster waste management and drainage cleaning. The new fleet is expected to accelerate sanitation work, reduce manual labour and improve cleanliness at the ward level. The backhoe loaders are equipped with multipurpose front and rear buckets and have undergone quality testing by IIT Delhi.

The two super sucker units compliant with BS-VI emission norms — will support year-round desilting and maintenance of Delhi’s drainage network, taking the total number of such machines to eight.

With the induction of the new vehicles, MCD’s backhoe loader fleet has increased to 52 units. The super sucker machines include a main suction unit, two dump tanks and a water tank. The machines are designed to function in challenging terrains, ensure transparency and enable timely sanitation services.
