Educating children, most often falls on deaf ears, as they do what they want to do. Merck, a global leader in science and technology, along with Tinkle have come up with two innovative comic books aimed at raising food safety awareness among children.
The comics were launched at the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, with over 200 students from government schools attending the event.
As part of the #SafeFoodFirst campaign, the comic books titled ‘Rishi’s Great Farm Adventure’ and ‘Rishi’s Street Food Discovery’ simplify the complex topic of microbial contamination in food, making it engaging and relatable for younger audiences. These stories aim to instil vital food safety practices from an early age.
The event featured interactive activities, including food safety quizzes, and painting favourite food superheroes with participants pledging to commit to healthy eating and hygiene practices. An educational video — “Science behind Food Safety” — explored the critical roles of various stakeholders in ensuring food safety — from producers to consumers.
