Seminar on Procurement and Industrial Cleaning

Conf-2The second and final day of the Seminar began with the session on procurement, a topic being addressed for the first time on a cleaning platform. The low priority given to cleaning & maintenance by procurement heads; the unfulfilled demands of operations & maintenance were discussed at length.

Moderated by Anil Sathe, founder & principal consultant, ACE SCM solutions the panel discussion, best practices in procurement, other panelists AvalSethi, Head, Supply Chain Management & Procurement, West Asia, integrated facility management, Jones Lang LaSalle; Apurva Praveen Patel, AGM – Strategic Sourcing and Projects Procurement, GHCL Ltd and Indrabanu G.R.T., Senior Manager-Key Accounts, Roots Multiclean Ltd presented the different aspects of procurement.

Initiating the session, Anil highlighted the frameworks to be done for an effective procurement. He spoke on the parameters such as defining areas, aligning performance measurement, spend management plans with the help of latest analytical tools those play essential role in building framework.Speaking on the strategic sourcing, Risk Management and environment protection as part of best procurement practices, Apurva gave a detailed picture of sourcing lever, SVM approach and how to identify the risk factors involved to derive a bigger and sustainable procurement picture.

Conf-1Santhi Reddy and Shahram Navin, Managers – Administration & Facilities at Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories,presented their paper on vendor management, analyzing, aligning and consolidating the necessary sub-steps such as pre-selection; pre-qualification; performance evaluation; agreements; online tendering (ARIBA); contract awarding; KPI’s; Contract Field Audits; Vendor Compliance and other compliances.

Substantiating the points and involving the attendees’ point of view, Sunil Ralph, VP-Admin moderated a debate – Operatonsvs Procurement which had Raakesh Trivedi, GM, DR World Mall-Surat; Souren Choudhury, Senior Operations Manager-FS Corp (Gujarat & MP), Sodexo India On-site Services Solution and Deepak Sindkar, Procurement Head-Essar Steel (I) Ltd discussed the L1 vs T1 and other Lacuna that inhibits both service providers and Premise owners’ objectives unfulfilled. Sunil: “While working on RFPs, we must generalize the requirements for e.g. washrooms needs regardless of place must be treated equally and hence the maintenance requirements.” Further, “as a premise caretaker we must take the ownership in our hands and must work that way. This will help ensure the task fulfillment with the attention it required,” he added.

The specialized cleaning and maintenance solutions for industries

Conf-3The session with speakers from Karcher Cleaning Systems Pvt Ltd – Rajesh Wariar, Product Manager, Indrabanu G.R.T., Senior Manager-Key Accounts, Roots Multiclean Ltd and Sunil Chopra, Regional Head, Eureka Forbes Ltd focused on the mechanized cleaning for specific industries such as food, pharma, automobile and cement followed by a panel discussion on optimising cleaning services in industries: effective collaboration between product providers, facility service providers and the end-users.

Moderated by Vinay Deshmukh, CEO, Forbes Facility Services Pvt. Ltd, the other panelists were Ruediger Schroeder, MD-Karcher Cleaning Systems Pvt Ltd; Puneet Mishra, Head-Pro Clean Technology Solutions, Eureka Forbes Ltd, AlexandreNikolov, VP-Hygiene Medical Industry Co. Ltd, and Dr.S.K.Pradeep Kumar, Technical Expert – Food &Pharma, Hicare Services Pvt. Ltd.

The session focusing on the specific needs of industries presented the latest customized and mechanized solutions. The speakers spoke about the fundamentals of cleaning activity – a combination of four approaches; mechanical action, temperature, time and cleaning agent. A right mix of these approaches helps in giving good cleaning results.
