In order to address the issue of garbage at the grassroots level, Bruhat Bangaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has decided to issue occupancy certificate only to those new apartments and commercial complexes which have waste segregation implemented in the infrastructure plan. This was declared during the recently concluded week-long “Wake Up, Clean Up Bengaluru” expo organised by BBMP along with CREDAI at Freedom Park in Bangalore.
A host of key CREDAI personnel and decision makers who discussed several crucial issues pertaining to waste management and the plan to achieve the common goal of a garbage free city have vowed to clean up Bangalore by the next World Environment Day in June.
CREDAI has committed to join hands with the BBMP to tackle the garbage crisis. There are 600 apartment complexes which were built by the CREDAI and the waste from these apartments is managed by its members. The forum will initiate pilot projects to monitor waste management system in each ward in the city and it will assign builders to these projects.
