TCI Trucking facility cleaning

When it comes to cleaning oil residue, dirt or gummy mess, a chemical free ec-H20 technology has been effective in dealing with such grime at TCI Trucking, USA

TCI Trucking, USA, is a forward thinking, technologically advanced full service logistics provider specializing in container yard services, intermodal transportation and international logistics consulting. Their staff is dedicated to providing the most professional logistical advice in the industry.

TCI Trucking’s 145,000sqft Baltimore warehouse operates six days a week and is subjecte d to a lot of dirt and grime. To keep this critical facility clean, TCI Trucking turned to Tennant’s chemical-free ec-H2O™ technology which electrically converts plain tap water into cleaning agent without any added element. Using a Tennant 7300 mid-size battery-powered rider scrubber, TCI Trucking crews clean high-traffic areas daily and other areas twice a week.

“The Baltimore warehouse handles a lot of seed products with high oil content,” said John Mendel, the director of operations for TCI Trucking. “Oil residue and dirt stick to the floor creating a sticky gummy mess and the forklift tyres spread the mess around to a larger area.”

Huge Savings

Mendel’s crews previously used an Advance Adgressor 36-inch Scrubber and Zep Morado Super Cleaner, the concentrated extra heavy-duty purple cleaner and degreaser. TCI Trucking bought the degreaser in 55-gallon drums.

“In the past we spent $700 a month or approximately $8,500 a year on degreaser. Using the ec-H2O technology, we don’t need to buy degreaser any longer,” said Mendel. “It’s a huge savings and it cleans great. There’s no soapy residue, so there’s better traction for forklifts and foot traffic.”

In addition to cost savings on detergent and maintenance for his machines, Mendel appreciates the productivity improvements as crews spend only four hours to clean what previously took them six hours. He also likes the environmental advantages of only picking up water and dirt from his floors and not disposing of detergent.

Mendel’s crews love the ec-H2O machine, because it’s more user-friendly than their old Adgressor machine. They also like the Tennant rider scrubber’s more comfortable seats and headlights, so visibility is better.

“Using the ec-H2O technology cuts my cleaning time in half compared to detergent because there’s no dwelling time involved,” said Ilyas Ali, a TCI floor technician. “It’s safer for me not only filling the tank but cleaning out as well. There are no fumes or possible chemical burns and the floor is left cleaner and drier.”

Reduced maintenance, enhanced cleaning

“I was pleased with the performance of the Adgressor, but caustic solution degraded the floor scrubber’s brushes and gears degraded the machine and added costs for repairs,” said Mendel. “Using water in the ec-H2O machine can’t hurt the machine, or at least far less than the Morado purple cleaner and degreaser.”
