The Pink City Jaipur, will have all its 77-wards spic and span following a massive month long cleanliness drive ending on November 18, 2013.
According to Jagroop Singh Yadav, Chief Executive Officer, Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC), directions have been issued to all zone commissioners requiring them to monitor the anti-garbage operation and cleanliness drive. They have been directed to conduct daily surveys of their areas from 7 am to 10 am and again from 2 pm to 5 pm and then submit a report to the health commissioner late in the evening who, in turn, will give the report to him.
Wearing official municipal dresses, all the 5,000 JMC staff will carry out anti-garbage and sanitation drives in all historical places, public toilets, educational institutes and religious places. They will clean drains, manholes on both sides of roads and garbage bins daily. The fogging machines have also been pressed into service. Fruit and vegetable markets would also be cleaned.
To beautify the Pink City, the JMC has also directed the officials to remove banners, pamphlets and posters from public places. Under the Rajasthan Property Defacement Act, 2005, actions will also be initiated against those who raised the banners or pasted pamphlets.
