DRDO takes a leaf out of a book on urban sanitation
In order to address the larger issue of water conservation, hygiene and sanitation in urban households, a retired Engineer with Delhi Government, AK Gupta, has installed a unique bio-digester technology based toilet in the basement of his house in Delhi. Besides the commercial viability of the system, the Mechanical Engineer, who has executed decentralized mini and micro sewage treatment plants under Yamuna Action Plan-I points out the eco-friendly aspect of the system by virtue of it being a substitute for sewage treatment. He implemented the bio-digester technology with the help of DRDO and has been greatly benefited from it as it guarantees minimal exposure and hence complete hygiene.
