In a major initiative, the children of 71 Pune-based schools participated in an Environmental Awareness Programme organised by the Commonwealth Youth Games 2008. To enhance awareness among the children of schools, interactive sessions on global warming, air & water pollution and solid waste management were organised. The students prepared artwork and paintings using Jigrr, the official Mascot of the Commonwealth Youth Games Pune 2008 as a medium to send out environmental messages.
