Railway zones to be ranked for cleanliness

Indian Railways has decided to rank its zones and divisions for serving quality food and maintaining cleanliness on trains and at stations. Concerned officials of the zones and divisions ranked poorly would be held accountable and may face action. While the ranking would be based on the feedbacks received from commuters through complaint books, IVRS and text messages, this would also decide the fate of catering and FM vendors. It is worth noting that in its latest budget, IR has announced 40% increase in allocation for cleanliness and is planning to introduce a quality assurance mechanism through third party audit.
