Bengaluru was ranked third among 29 Indian cities in the Environmentally Sustainable City Award competition held during the Euro India Summit. The City performed well on the Environmentally Sustainable City Index because of its eco-friendly measures in handling and managing the City’s waste. The Municipal Corporation’s initiative of segregating and recycling municipal solid waste through decentralised processing units at Yelahanka proved to be a scoring point. Besides, the role and participation of Residents’ Welfare Associations were also commended.
