The Allahabad Municipal Corporation has recently bought a 
for cleaning its wide roads. Speaking to CIJ, Arun Kumar, Health Officer, says, “Under the JNNURM scheme, Allahabad city has been selected for the solid waste management project. Under this scheme, the municipal corporation gets grants for the projects as per the 12th Finance Commission. AMC purchased truck mounted road sweeper from TPS under this grant. Subject to the performance of this machine, we may go for two more machines. We are using the machine where the roads are wide like in the High Court and Civil Lines areas. It runs for 12hrs a day. Currently, our staff is undergoing one-month training programme to operate the machine.”
Under the project, the Corporation is also working in areas like sanitary landfill sites, compost bins and door-to-door garbage collection.
