“True Sustainability Comes with Long-Lasting Products”

by Clean India Journal Editor

With a legacy that stretches back nearly a century, columbus has progressively evolved from 1926 — when Gustav Staehle invented the first polishing machine with suction — into a leading global manufacturer of cleaning machines. Clean India Journal interacts with Sahil Jain, MD, columbus Cleaning Machines Pvt. Ltd to understand the company’s vision.

By 1976, the family-owned columbus, introduced the first automatic cleaning machine, expanding internationally in the 1990s. Operating its subsidiaries across Europe, the company’s philosophy – Clean Quality – drives towards advance cleaning technology with minimalistic design and durable materials, ensuring long-term performance and low maintenance costs. The robust, sustainable machines are backed by dedicated in-house service teams ready to address urgent needs promptly.

Speaking of columbus India, “Our philosophy of delivering consistent quality across borders remains steadfast, ensuring that customers in Europe, Australia, and now India receive products manufactured to the highest standards. We are excited to introduce industry-leading innovations tailored for global users, such as Single Disc Machines with an unprecedented three-year warranty and ride-on machines offering up to eight hours of runtime, setting new benchmarks for efficiency and productivity.”

An extensive range of cleaning machines being offered to the Indian market include, scrubber dryers, single disc machines, commercial vacuum cleaners, and industrial vacuum cleaners, all designed to meet diverse cleaning needs with superior quality, easy handling and real value for money.

columbus machines feature language-free, symbol-oriented operational switches, maintenance charts and user manuals, which are particularly beneficial given the varied educational backgrounds and reading proficiency levels of many workers in the Indian housekeeping industry. This design ensures ease of use and maintenance without the need for additional localisation.

Furthermore, the product range includes machines in various sizes and capacities to meet the comprehensive needs of diverse Indian customers. Whether for small retail spaces or large industrial facilities, the equipment is versatile and capable of delivering excellent performance across different applications.

“By the end of the year, we are planning a global launch of a new line of sweepers. This upcoming range will feature push manual sweepers, as well as battery-operated walk-behinds with 40 and 50-litre hoppers, and larger ride-on models equipped with 100, 120, and 150-litre hoppers with an option of hydraulics as well.

“An advanced 140-litre and 200-litre scrubber dryers will be launched in India over the next few months. In addition, there will be an introduction of versions of various models designed specifically for environments that demand high hygiene standards and resistance to corrosive conditions, such as food processing and pharmaceutical industries. These versions feature all-stainless-steel components and an anti-bacterial tank (noBAC®) to effectively prevent bacterial growth.”

columbus takes a lead to have launched a product made from 100% recycled plastic, surpassing the 60% achieved by other companies. “True sustainability comes from creating products that last, as only such equipment can truly be considered eco-friendly.”
