The Ambattur Industrial estate in Chennai has set up an effluent treatment plant in its premises in addition to its two sewage treatment plants. Plans are on to make the estate “clean and green” during its golden jubilee year and put an end to the discharge of effluent in water bodies. The plant will cater to units within 25km radius and reduce the strain on fresh water use and will also be used for the intended plantation of 3000 saplings to make the estate pollution free.
