The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation is inspecting three and five star hotels in the city between May 1 and September 30 with a task force team. It will award each of the hotels depending on their standards of hygiene.
Clarifying the guidelines laid down to grade star hotels and also about the best colony award for sanitation, Mayor Kartika Reddy said that there were about 50 star hotels under GHMC limits including five, three and lower denomination hotels that would be evaluated. The team will mark the hotels on the following parametres: cleanliness of surroundings (15 marks), results of food samples lifted (15 marks), drinking water quality (15 marks), maintenance of kitchen (15 marks), cleanliness of utensils, etc. (15 marks), parking facilities (25 marks), statutory norms and usage of plastics (10 marks).
The performance of colony welfare associations will be evaluated by the agency on a monthly basis and the half-yearly performance appraisal will be completed by October 31. Works worth र15 lakh will be awarded to the best colony on November 1.
The GHMC will mark colonies on the following parameters: coverage of door-to-door garbage collection (20 marks), installation of litter bins at all commercial establishments (20 marks), cleanliness of roads & lanes (20 marks), maintenance of greenery and cleanliness in parks (20 marks), maintenance of infrastructure viz pathways, restrooms, lights (20 marks), usage of plastic (minus 10 marks).
